Software as a service grows twice as fast as the classic software 6
A SaaS application (software as to service), is accessible over the internet, supported and maintained solely by its manufacturer, shared with many customers and hosted in the cloud.
IDC recently published a report which highlights the future of the SaaS model and cloud applications for the next 5 years, revealing that the SaaS growth is 6 times faster than in classical software installations and also expected a growth of 26% per year until 2014. Already before the summer, IDC published the result of a global survey of ICT managers on their forecasts of SaaS applications, concluding that an 95% of companies expect to maintain and increase the use of SaaS. Respondents cited as one of the main reasons for its adoption reduce the high total cost of ownership (TCO) associated with traditional applications.
